Adult Learning Community (ALC) at Penn State New Kensington
To learn more about the adult learning community, please email Ruth Ann Herstek at [email protected].
The Adult Learning Community, or ALC, has been established to serve the unique needs of our adult learners - or - non-traditional students (age 24 or older, veterans, or any student with multiple life roles, those with four or more years of employment or homemaking, or those who identify as an adult learner and wish to join the Community for support).
This group typically meets both day and evening hours and can include a wide range of diverse workshops and sessions on topics to enhance the learning experience and improve the success of the adult learner population. Sessions include topics such as higher education technology tips, study skills including writing and math, major and career-changer exploration, life roles and educational barriers, transformational learning discussions, chats with faculty and yet-to-be-determined topics that will be developed by the ALC as they meet to discuss their specific needs.
